Poem Written By A Bengali School Teacher

Now I don't know whether this is true or not. But a colleague had passed out printouts of the below poem long time back. A cleaning spree found me reading it again. It never fails to bring a smile on my face. So I thought about sharing it here.

Through the jongole I am went
On shooting Tiger I am bent
Boshtard Tiger has eaten wife
No doubt I will avenge poor darling's life
Too much quiet, snakes and leeches
But I not fear these sons of beeches
Hearing loud noise I am jumping with start
But noise is coming from damn fool's heart
Taking care not to be fright
I am clutching rifle tight with eye to sight
Should Tiger come I will shoot and fall him down
Then like hero return to native town
Then through trees I am espying one cave
I am telling self -" Chatterjee be brave"
I am proceeding with too much care
From far I smell this Tiger's lair
My leg shaking, sweat coming, I start to pray
I think I will shoot Tiger some other day
Turning round I am going to flee
But Tiger giving bloody roar spotting this Bengalee
He bounding from cave like football player Pele
I run shouting
"Kali Ma tumi kothay gele"
Through the jongole I am running
With Tiger on my tail closer looming
I am a telling that never in life
I will risk again for my damn fool wife!!!!

Mouth Freshner!!!

I was watching "The End Of Days" on Star Movies and noticed that Star has started providing English subtitles to the English movies that they show.

Our TV channels already censor all abusive words (Hindi, English & Regional) and replace it with a blank. So if we are watching reality television like "Big Boss" and "MTV Roadies", complete sentences and sometimes entire conversations are sacrificed to the BEEP.

But I have realised that this policy has the opposite effect on me as a viewer. On DVD, I fail to notice abusive words. When the same words turn into a Beep, my mind translates the Beep into the complete sentence that was, and in the process, specially with reality TV, the shock of what has been said is greater!!! Probably cause I have had to do a little work to arrive at the conclusion!

Coming back to the English subtitles for English movies, what do you think they do for slang's and abuses?

In some places there is a blank inside brackets for the abuse. Especially for the F word.
Words like "shit" when uttered on screen is changed to "crap".
"Hell" becomes "Heck".
"Damn" becomes "Darn".
"Dick wad" surprisingly either escaped notice or was mistaken for a good word.

Nice To A Fault.

I came across an interesting article in the IE. It was regarding the recent attack on Mumbai by 'Islamic Terrorists'. Yes, I said it. Islamic Terrorists.

You see our esteemed PM along with a host of other politicians condemned the 26/11 terrorist attack on India. No other community is or ever was involved in these attacks. So why not educate the innocent in the same community as well as others, of the miscreants real identity? But the secular view here is that one should not communalise such sensitive matters.

This means that speaking the truth about their complete identity would be communalising. So anyone mentioning the word Islamic terrorist is not a secular person.

Hence using the term Islamic terrorist is going against Secularism.
In other words using the term is equal to being anti social.
Anti socials are equal to the said terrorists.
Hence using the term Islamic terrorist is equal to actually being the said terrorist.

But the rest of the world does not follow the above principle. So are our politicians being nice to a fault?

I think definitely so.

Interesting article that was. Loved sharing it here.

Cheers.
